    <title>FLOATING COATS | Tunes By The Ton</title>
    <link>http://www.floatingcoats.com/</link>
<description>Floating Coats - Atlanta-Decatur GA based purveyors of fine tunes since 1998 - present "Tunes By The Ton." This ongoing podcast documents the good, the stellar and the surreal collected from a mountainous archive of live, practice, and "guerilla" recordings. We will trace the many iterations and line-ups of the band: from our beginnings in rock 'n roll devilry, to tradish-acoustic string band, and all the (mild-mannered) madness that has blended the two ever since. Continue to tune in as we assemble episodes from the deep and modern past, and shovel it all online. Enjoy! [CONTACT US @ floatingcoats.com]</description>

<item><title>Floating Coats / "Gold Days" : There's A Roach In My Beer [Best Of 2006]</title>
      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20060000-Roach-In-Beer.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "Gold Days" ... 2006 was as active a time as the Coats' instinctively slack gig-schedule could possibly withstand, what has come to be known as the "gig-a-month" year. (Ambitious, indeed!) Coat-alum Dave Goldberg had settled in and the "Gold" era hit stride. The gents added a LP's worth of new tunes to the catalog, honed that which had made the transition from earlier eras and performed a series of stand-out shows (Red Light, Alcove and Decatur CD, esp). A few end-of-year tunes puts a cap on this fine archival dig, dusted off for your listening pleasure ... 20060000 set-list: WRFG, Jan: 1) Home Free, 2) Cold Blows The Wind (Trad-Ween) ... RED LIGHT, March: 3) Riddle, 4) Dead End Street (The Kinks), 5) Bombshell World, 6) A Roach In My Beer, 7) The Desert ... DECATUR CD, May: 8) Black Jack Davey (Trad-Carter Family), 9) No Need, 10) First Water [Dave Stevens on banjo] ... @ 999, Sept: 11) Lowenbrau ... 5 SPOT, Dec: 12) We Wish You A Merry Xmas, 13) What Goes On (Velvet U)

<item><title>Floating Coats / "Prog-Trad" : An Alcove Halloween [Oct 25 2003]</title>
      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20031025-Alcove-Halloween.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "Prog-Trad" ... Saturday October 25, 2003, was a "progressive-traditional" Halloween at the original Alcove Arts Gallery. The gents, in full barbershop quartet garb, were fueled that night by a madcap crowd of costumed crazies, the usual alt-art freakshow that was the Alcove trademark—and yes: some liberal libations. This here is a powerhouse acoustic set, "Prog-Trad" and Halloween proving to be a match made in All Hallow's heaven ... 20031025 set-list: 1) You Ain't Going Nowhere (Dylan), 2) Home Free, 3) Waters Of Madness, 4) How Strange, 5) Who Loves The Sun? (Velvet Underground), 6) Henry, 7) Viper Billy Swing, 8) Heavenly Notion, 9) One White Question Mark, 10) Ain't It A Shame, 11) Sweet Georgia Waltz, 12) This Is Where I Belong (The Kinks), 13) Viper Mad (Sidney Bechet), 14) Lies, 15) Virginia Please, 16) If I Should Fall From Grace With God (The Pogues)

      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20070000-All-Over-Creation.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "Gold Days" ... This episode pulls together over a dozen select tracks from the several dozens of recordings that piled up in our 2007 archives. The Coats have always shown a willingness to play just about anywhere, but 2007 put that claim to the test. From the lobby of the Tula Arts Centre to the underpass of the Ormewood RR bridge (with the more familiar confines of WRFG, Alcove and 5 Spot to boot), 2007 saw the Coats performing pretty well "all over creation" ... 20070000 track-list: [Tula Arts Centre, March] 1) Waveland ... [WRFG, Jan] 2) I Burn Today (Frank Black), 3) Country ... [Tula Arts Centre, March] 4) Viper Mad (Bechet), 5) Spiritualize ... [Decatur Arts Fest, May] 6) Two Black Marks, 7) Somethin' Against U (Pixies) ... [The Bridge, Oct] 8) Tourrine ... [WRFG, Nov] 9) Serial Murder, 10) The Only Thing, 11) Pray For Rain ... [Alcove, Dec] 12) Heavenly Notion ... [5 Spot, Dec] 13) Borrowed And Blue, 14) Building Up ... [Joe's House, Oct] 15) Mackie Messer

<item><title>Floating Coats / MOJO JOJO : "Rock-n-Roll, Kind Of" LGWH [Sep 4 2002]</title>
      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20020904-LGWH-Live.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "The MOJO JOJO Archives" ... A return to our early rock-n-roll roots, digs up the last 'proper' gig Mojo played way back yonder in the early 'aughts. Playing to a packed house (and that is a joke), this is as much a recorded celebration of that era as anything. And to prove the revelry equaled the performance, in a Blues Bros moment we wound up owing the bar 3 bucks after being paid and the tab settled! At some point that night, we were asked what style of music the band played; Jim's classic response: "Well, it's rock-and-roll, kind of" ... 20020904 set-list: 1) Be Like Me, 2) Till The End Of The Day [Kinks], 3) Ain't It A Shame, 4) Strangers [Kinks], 5) Billy Zoom, 6) Muscogee, OK [Merle Haggard], 7) Cutlass Supreme, 8) Walk On The Wave, 9) The Last Time, 10) Heavenly Notion, 11) Passenger [Iggy Pop], 12) Reply, 13) Spiritualize

      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20080903-Live-WRFG-89-3.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "Gold Days" ... The Peach State Festival show on Little Five Points / Atlanta's WRFG (Radio Free Georgia) has been a regular stop for the Coats since the 'Prog/Trad' Days. But this here is the gold-standard 'Gold-era' appearance. Setting up in the 'old bunkhouse' with loveable quirky host, J.R., the Coats deliver a memorable broadcast. Performing some new songs, some golden chestnuts, this episode represents the gents at their unplugged finest. There was something in the studio air that night. (Or maybe it was just the bottle of Maker's Mark they snuck in.) ... 20080903 set-list: 1) The Bitter End, 2) Shreveport, 3) The Long Emergency, 4) Weather Report / Rain [Beatles], 5) Breaking Things, 6) Buzzkill, 7) Tourine, 8) Gift Of Grace, 9) The Last Train, 10) Don't Hold Me Back, 11) Sunshine

<item><title>Floating Coats / "Gold Days" : Old Overcoat Album Release [Apr 23 2011]</title>
      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20110423-Old-Overcoat-Release.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "Gold Days" ... It doesn't get any more quintessential Coats than "Old Overcoat." Recorded over the first part of 2011, here is our album release party held at good ol' Decatur CD. Part showcase, part-farewell, all-celebration, this would be our final gig with drummer-guitarist-harpist-songwriter-do-it-all guy, Dave "Red Eye" Goldberg. Gold's five plus years in the Coats' hot-seat marks an era of slumbering productivity for the band. Why even they are still amazed they pulled off recording and producing a whole album in 3 months! A feat worthy of celebration! ... 20110423 set-list: 1) Right Now, 2) Love Will Have To Get By Without Me, 3) Down By The Sea, 4) Harmony / Stresslessness, 5) If My Breath Escapes Me, 6) Sawdust Cigarettes, 7) Borrowed / Blue, 8) Whilst I'm Standing, 9) Ghost Town, 10) Good Thing, 11) The Last Train, 12) Jimmy's Page, 13) Satellites, 14) I'm Cut Loose, 15) The Hawks!

<item><title>Floating Coats / "Blendo" : Hard Headed Loser [May 2005]</title>
      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20050500-Hard-Headed-Loser.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "Blendo" ... The Coats could only keep 'demon electricity' down for so long, a line-up change in Fall 2004 resulting in a power trio that navigated the blend of electric-acoustic with smug ease. Here's a demo recorded in Jim's living room over the first few months of 2005, an all-original collection that (along with a few live "Prog / Trad" crossover tracks) is quintessential "blendo." The Coats' musical odyssey has long revolved around the lax minstrel club-like tradition of practice night. HHL lives up to, no, it revels in said tradition ... HHL set-list: 1) Hot Santa Anna, 2) The Desert, 3) The Bitter End, 4) Harmony / Stresslessness, 5) Henry, 6) Serial Murder, 7) Kick In The Ass, 8) Bombshell World [Live], 9) No Need, 10) Waters Of Madness [Live], 11) Riddle, 12) Hard Headed Loser

      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20040504-The-Tower.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "Prog-Trad" ... Blending "progressive" rock stylings with "traditional" string band influences - while pulling the plug on demon electricity to go all-acoustic - required gumption and gusto. These qualities were put to use in this quintessential "Prog-Trad" era recording. Breaking and entering was not the Coats original intent on the night of May 4, 2004. But they did what they had to do in order to record inside the old Fourth Ward water tower. At the height of their "Prog-Trad" powers, this 6-song EP runs the gamut of the catalog at the time. The occasional passing MARTA bus only adds to the performance ... 20040504 set-list: 1) The Way Love Used To Be [Ray Davies], 2) Waters Of Madness, 3) Henry, 4) The Bitter End, 5) Cold Blows The Wind [Trad. (by way of Ween)], 6) Bombshell World

      <link>http://www.inheritage.org/floatingcoats/tunes_podcast/20001215-Cajun-Kitchen.mp3</link>
<description>FLOATING COATS / "The MOJO JOJO Archives" ... December 15, 2000, would produce the quintessential MOJO live experience: out-of-the-gate, cruising along, faster and faster, all the while teetering at the edge of flying apart at the seams (and, well, often flying apart at the seams). Performing this night as "El Supersonicos" (for some forgotten reason), MOJO blows through a furious set of sonic mayhem. There is no let-up, the show delivering on its natural course: to wind up in a pile of distorted feedback-fueled wreckage. And, they were the opening act! ... 20001215 set-list: 1) Over My Head, 2) Billy Zoom, 3) House Of Fear, 4) Reply, 5) Downtown, 6) Cutlass Supreme, 7) Gimme Da Box, Dave, 8) Amphetamine Jean, 9) That's How He Scares Him, 10) Trailer Park Odyssey, 11) Third Uncle [Brian Eno]
